Consejos útiles para los socios del proyecto de cara al viaje / SOME ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS FOR ALL PARTNERS TRAVELLING TO ASTURIAS

WHAT TO BRING TO THE CLASSROOM
The Spanish teachers and students will ask you questions about your countries when you visit our classrooms. This will not be a small endeavour
as you will be visiting about 21 different classrooms (on Friday and Monday). Remember that more than 400 Spanish hundred students are involved in this project. That will make us divide the visiting teachers and students in smaller groups, so that teachers and coordinators can get some work done while the visits are taking place. In the next few days, our 8 participating teachers will be asking their students to suggest questions and topics. As soon as I receive these suggestions, I will forward them to you all.
Two of our teachers teach French. So, whenever some of you visit the four French groups, you will be using that language.
Apart from these visits, you will have to bring some visual or audiovisual aid because on Monday evening we will have an hour-long activity –in English- for about 70 students from different groups (level: intermediate to advanced). All schools will be expected to talk about their countries, culture and educational system for a maximum of ten minutes each. Bringing slides or some other visual aid will be very helpful. Let me know what you will be bringing in advance so that we can face any technical difficulties and find a solution before you come.

TRIP
If the number of people travelling is three or more, you may consider the option of taking a taxi at the airport as the fare will be quite low (18€-20€) and the taxi will take you straight to the hotel, where I will be meeting you. The hotel is downtown so you will be able to dine or go shopping as soon as you arrive. Shops close at 21:00. The hotel has its own restaurant if you don't want to dine out. At 9.30 on Friday morning, a bus will be picking you up. You will be meeting the Spanish teachers then.
BUS FROM THE AIRPORT OF ASTURIAS
There will be an ALSA bus waiting for you at the airport if you don't arrive to late in the evening. There are really two of them, one goes straight to Oviedo and the other one goes to Avilés and then Gijón. You will just have to tell the bus driver "Avilés?" and he will tell you "yes" (sí) or "no" (no) or "éste" (this one) o "el otro" (the other one). They are grey and blue and park to the left of the airport (if you are looking towards the airport's main doors). There are buses for almost every flight. You will be in Avilés in about 20 minutes.

I gave you a photocopy in France with the timetable for these buses.

FLIGHTS
I advise not to leave your travel arrangementes till the last minute and to fly to Asturias via Paris Orly, London Stansted, Madrid or Barcelona.
You can travel with Iberia, and take a plane from Madrid with Spanair or Iberia, or you can get a cheaper flight to Asturias using Easyjet, or fly to Santander and then take a bus to Asturias, with Ryan Air.
The price of flights will vary depending on the date of your booking. There are different times to flight to Asturias from Madrid but, for some of you, it may be better to travel to Barcelona. And then take a plane to Asturias from there. The only problem is that our airport closes very early at night.
You may also be able to find a charter flight to Asturias via Palma de Majorca or some other city in Spain. Iberia and Spainair are part of alliances of different airline companies, which means that if you travel, for example, with British Airways, you could really be travelling with Iberia because both of them share planes and air routes.
